We have created this tour for people who have a special interest in learning about the history and heritage of Judaism in Spain. It is well known that Spain was one of the cradles of medieval Judaism. After the destruction of Jerusalem’s temple there was an escalating arrival of an important Jewish community, which spread throughout the Spanish geography. North to Barcelona we have two places that best preserve the historical heritage of the medieval Jewish community: the city of Girona and Besalú, a small medieval village located in the center of Catalonia. After approximately one hour of drive first we will visit the city of Girona which hides an impressive medieval center, very well preserved together with the Jewish quarter called the CALL. After that we will drive through beautiful valleys and fields to arrive at the impressive medieval village, Besalú. It is a good opportunity to get to know the deepest part of Catalunya. Once in Besalú you are going to visit the only remaining undamaged ritual baths left in the country (Mikveh) and the spectacular medieval bridge. At some point during the tour your Tour Guide will help you to improvise a stop for lunch (lunch on your charge). Join us!
